5 Pairs Of Classic Shoes For The Office
There's no point dressing the part for work if you're not sporting the right footwear. Here are 5 classic styles you can't go wrong with.
It’s hard to take someone seriously in a lousy or slightly adventurous pair of shoes (apart from Steve Jobs, no-one really seemed to care about his Merrells for some reason).
The shoes you wear and the condition they’re in say a lot about you. Especially the shoes you wear to work. Not necessarily the mark of a man but a good starting point if you’re of a judgemental persuasion.
I’d therefore always err on the side of caution and keep to classic styles when picking shoes to wear with a suit for the office.
Here are five pairs very much at home in the city. None of them are cheap, granted, but they’ll last you a good few years and in some cases a lifetime with a bit of care and the help of a good cobbler.
1. Russell and Bromley- Keeble 3 Tassel College Loafer £175 (pictured above)
2. Church’s- Chetwynd Brogue Polished Leather £390
3. Bass Weejuns- Larson Loafer Shoe £95
4. Loake Dorchester Oxford Shoe £199
5. John Lobb Monk Strap Shoe £675

Brown is never worn in Town
if you are 65
Brown is the new town my dear boy !
Cant argue with this although last ones are slightly dodgy. Fuckin hate blue tightish suits with the pointy tan shoes that seems to be in vogue - well in Sydney CBD anyway
Dunno what "Town" you live in Maturin but brown leaves black (or any other colour for that matter) in the dark, here in London town. Go anywhere interesting and look down and you'll see what I mean.
Buckles on shoes? What kind of out of touch fucknut wrote this article? Guy Fawkes?!?
Joe, Please drop us a line at [email protected] with a better article. Look forward to reading it.
Joe: I agree with you. Those shoes are just SILLY!
Tom is right... and the best selling shoes are in fact those fabulous Monk Strap shoes.. as usual, Joe Wagg is where we find ourselves, the lowest common denominator... Style is just that style... Tassle Loafers are for the guys that wear button down shirts and khaki pants.. you've guessed it the yanks
I'll say it again just for the southerners. Any lad (or bloke) with any sense of sartorial pride does not wear shoes with buckles. Can any of these pro-Musketeer types pray tell what kind of clothes you're supposed to couple with these monstrosities?
Joe, again, please feel free to drop us a message with an alternative piece. Really looking forward to reading it. Thanks.
Joe wears clogs I guess very northern and very sartorial.. Nort/South divide... style versus ... oh well you catch my drift!!!... wearing my monks proudly btw I got them for £25.00 from Matalan
Yes Joe Wagg, buckles on shoes. Maybe if you ventured further afield than Office or Schuh you may discover the world of men's fashion, footwear in particularly. These 'monstrosities' you refer to go well with plenty of styles believe it or not. I suggest you stick to your shiny, Next suit and Ask The Missus shoes of which you require a license for wearing.
Well, looks like I've outed another clown-shoed simpleton. Funny how none of the clobber emporiums I regularly shop at stock these mirth-inducing feet-ruiners (and no George I've never shopped at Office or Schuh). But please, keep wearing them - it makes me look even better when you're stood next to me in the pub.
I'm with Joe on this one, i work in fashion and in London and i wouldn't be seen dead in those buckle shoes. Unless i was going to a fancy dress party as d'artagnan or a pirate. Guys, you don't HAVE to dress like a raging bender just because some too cool for school fashion blogger said so.
I wear brown shoes in town and whenever people say that monotonous drivle about "No brown in town" i tell them to fuck off. Seems to work.
Bob C - one of my favourite ever comments on Sabotage Times, Thanks
Guy Fawkes - quality line Joe Wagg.
