Red Wing Kangatan Boot
An archive boot with its history in baseball gets a modern lift...
In 1963, renowned Minnesota bootmaker Red Wing set out to make a superior sports shoe for Red Sox winger Ted Williams, still considered one of the greatest hitters in baseball. The result was the Kangatan, which now sees an updated modern homage released for 2014.
It’s the colour on these that really gets my kanga tanning, a beautiful deep dark green that’ll look swell with denim or chinos. The original was made with kangaroo leather, a practise which came to an end after green kangaroos became an endangered species in the 1970s.
The new boot features the classic Traction Tred outsole, Goodyear welt construction and all the other lovely details that Red Wing do so well.
