New York's 5 Best Burgers

I’ve put a lot of time and weight gain into this list. Yet the unconfirmed minutes/days/years it has taken off my life are probably worth it...

Number 5 – Cheeseburger with “The Works” – The Burger Joint, Le Parker Meridien Hotel

Hidden away behind red velvet curtains in the lobby of this swanky hotel is The Burger Joint, a tiny divey diner churning out high quality burgers. A very simple burger executed to near perfection. Though be prepared to order or you will be sent back by the Burger Gatekeeper.

Number 4 – Black Label Burger – Minetta Tavern

This is possibly the most adored burger in New York, providing you can bag a table in the first place. The foundation of this burger is the meat. Probably the best prime meat you will find in any burger anywhere on earth. The patty is accompanied with caramelized onions and a specially made bun. Take your time and get your money’s worth. At $26 it costs more than the next three burgers combined.

Corner Bistro: The Best Bar In New York Once The Tourists are Gone

Number 3 – Bistro Burger – Corner Bistro

An old fashioned burger in an old fashioned bar. To eat this basic but brilliant burger topped with tomato, onions, American cheese and bacon is to experience a bit of West Village history. Also has ace beers, a top atmosphere and is inexplicably open till 4am

Number 2 – Shack Burger – Shake Shack

This is a fast food burger that is always reliable, tasty and good value. Shake Shack is expanding around the globe and with a new joint opening up in London soon everyone can experience the best fast food burger in the world.  Some say it is too salty, which is crazy… as if salt has ever harmed anyone.

Number 1 – Bacon Cheeseburger – JG Melons

The reason this burger is the best is that it is the perfect combination of the two burgers above. It delivers the solid meat and bun of the Shack Burger but with the old fashioned style of the Bistro Burger. The place itself is a New York institution. Eating a burger here is New York bliss.

So there you have it.

Worthwhile mentions for the burger at Dinosaur BBQ, Peter Luger’s lunchtime only creation and Fanelli Café’s burger with the onion bun. Now go and eat them all.

If you like it, Pass it on

went to new york last summer and burger joint was highly recommended to us, however in my opinion burger was nothing special and the locale was crammed and unpleasant

Are you serious? Pauls on 2nd Ave and St.Marks Place is the best burger in NYC hands down, or up (yer kilt) whichever you prefer. East Village atmosphere included. A $26 burger is an elitist joke. I wouldln't eat one on principal. You'd have to be a dick. The burger is a working mans sandwich, matey!

Dumont's. Seconded. Or even Eamonn Doran's on Montague Street. When in NYC don't forget that Brooklyn is where it's at.
