Varkko, I wasnt questioning the quality or price of any of the buys Hicks and Gillett initially made. Torres was one of the best strikers in the world when he first joined Liverpool, even Ryan Babel I always felt never got a fair crack under Benitez. The point is about foreign money being pumped into the game be it American, Thai or Indian. In many cases it can appear that its for the benefit of the club but its often just a ploy to get the fans on the side of a new owner as you saw with your two favourite texans and Henry’s come in with his visa card blazing lets see what he’s doing in 3 years time paticularly if you don’t break back into the Champions league spots!

In the last 4 years they’ve finished 7th, 8th, 5th and 6th. hardly a club in crisis. Plus they’ve got one of the best managers in the league.

Martin Quirk: Mate if my crystal ball is blag yours must be seriously clouded over as even ” If Everton have have had a fraction of the cash thrown at Manchester City over the last few seasons” do you really think that is enough time to bring in the players and mould them into a side capable of winning two league titles and competing with the current top sides in Europe such as Barca. I also think those who bought Man city probably noticed the near 50,000 capacity of the stadium, the potential for expansion and the corporate facilities in place. If they looked at Everton they may have noticed the general state of the stadium, the rows and rows of terraced housing surrounding it and the big tent in the car park that is the source of much of our match day hospitality.
Oh and by the way when Hicks and Gillett took over your club there first buys were Lucas 5 million, Torres 20 mill, Benayoun 5 mill and Babel 11 mill and look how well that all ended up! But this fella will be different wont he?
