Thirteen years today Dennis Bergkamp scored what just might be the greatest goal of the Premier League era.
It came in an away game against Newcastle at St James’ Park. In the 11th minute a Robert Pires pass found Bergkamp on the edge of the area and what the Dutch legend did next was remarkable.
With Newcastle's Nikos Dabizas in close attendance Bergkamp flicked the ball around the Greek, while spinning himself round the other side of the centre back. Man and ball were miraculously reunited behind the defender and Bergkamp calmly slotted home.
In 2009 it was voted the greatest Arsenal goal by fans of the club. It might just be the best ever Premier League goal and the finest first touch of all time too.
