Arsenal have made an 'important' offer for Olympiakos' Spanish goalkeeper Roberto Jiménez, according to Marca (via the Metro).
Despite signing Premier League veteran Petr Cech from rivals Chelsea, Arsenal have offloaded Szczesny to Roma and Emi Martinez to Wolves on loan respectively. Suddenly the Gunners are one 'keeper short of the three 'keepers that you'd expect to see in a first team squad.
Jiménez has a £4.3m release clause, but it's thought that Arsenal have submitted a different bid, perhaps one that would see him arrive on loan, much like Emiliano Viviano did back in 2013.
The experienced 29-year-old is likely to be indirect competition with David Ospina if he arrives, as Cech is almost definitely guaranteed the number 1 spot.
