Arsenal Plan Summer Move For Real Madrid Midfield Misfit
According to the Spanish paper Marca, Arsenal are looking to bring in Asier Illarramendi in the summer. The Real Madrid man hasn't played as much as he'd have liked to since his move from Athletic Bilbao in 2013 and now that Real have signed the Brazilian Lucas Silva from Cruzerio, the writing is on the wall.
Arsenal are crying out for a midfield general that can also dictate the tempo with their passing, much like Arteta. The Gunners have taken a step in the right direction by signing Krystian Bielik, but the 17-year-old Pole is hardly the ideal immediate solution. Illarramendi would fit the Arteta mould very well, as well as bring in some much needed physicality.
The only snag for Arsenal would be the Spaniard's price tag and as a result, the financial powerhouses they would be competing with come summer. Real Madrid want to make as much of the £24million they paid for the midfielder as they can and thus will be on the look out for someone with a bigger wallet than brain. PSG, anyone?
