Arsenal Receive Quadruple Fitness Boost Ahead Of The Weekend
Arsenal have a history of being one of if the most injury prone sides in the Premier League. There was clearly something wrong. Last summer the club decided change was needed and hired the German national team's strength and conditioning coach, Shad Forsythe and he seems to have been the difference this season.
The American is regarded as one of the best at what he does and his use of the latest technology makes his approach truly modern and adaptable. Ever since Forsythe's arrival players have been coming back from injury fitter, stronger and physically more built (Mesut Özil being a prime example).
Arsenal also seem to be getting players back at just the right time and it's contributing to the fantastic run of form they're on. The Gunners are now hot favourites for the Champions League places, but at the rate they're going, Chelsea might just be glancing over their shoulder.
This weekend, Arsenal can look forward to the return of four players: Club captain Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Mathieu Debuchy and the terribly unfortunate Abou Diaby. With these four players, we will really see how effective Forsythe's work has been. Only Debuchy doesn't have a history with injuries (in a certain area) out of the four.
As for Abou Diaby, this really is his last chance to prove he can stay fit. The Frenchman is such a majestic and effective player when fit and at 28 years old he only has a few more years to really make a name for himself. Arsenal fans everywhere will have their fingers crossed for him.
