Arsenal Step Up Efforts To Sign 16-Year-Old Uruguayan

South American players are very in right now and Arsenal are missing a trick having signed 3 in the past two windows. The next on their list, bar Dybala perhaps, is a 16-year-old Uruguayan according to the Metro. Federico Valverde is a special talent and Arsene Wenger seems very keen on securing his services before anyone else does.

Reports from Uruguay earlier in the year suggest that Valverde, who currently plays for his native Penarol and Uruguay's U17 side, actually came to visit Arsenal's training ground in January and was assessed by Wenger and his coaching staff. It seems that he was impressive enough to encourage Wenger to pursue a £2.5million deal. Of course, any deal would most likely include a number of clauses and add-ons given the player's age.
