Arsenal: The Contract Clause That Could See Goal Machine Return For A Bargain

Everyone knows Arsenal desperately need another striker next season, but there's a few other positions that could do with strengthening as well. One of those is the left wing, where the current options are Santi Cazorla or Lukas Podolski. Santi Cazorla might be a wizard, but that doesn't translate into as many goals and assists as it probably should. Lukas Podolski is a ruthless finisher, but he's pretty useless in every other aspect.

Enter Carlos Vela, who was an Arsenal player from 2005-2012. He obviously had ability, and only seemed to score ridiculous lobs, but it didn't really work out for him in London. He's shone since joining Real Sociedad though - he scored 14 goals last year, and got 20 goals and 14 assists this season. Amazing numbers, especially for someone who's not playing for one of the La Liga giants.

Arsene Wenger, wily old fox that he is, put a buy-back clause into Vela's deal when he left Arsenal, which means he can return for just £3.3 million. He'd add pace, flair, and most importantly, goals, to the Arsenal attack. It's a no-brainer, really.

Do Arsenal fans want Vela back at the Emirates?
