Arsenal: Wenger Ready To Offload Two Strikers In January
According to The Times (subscription required), Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to offload Lukas Podolski AND Joel Campbell in the January transfer window. This will come as little surprise to many Arsenal fans as they have witnessed the pair's lack of game time first hand this season.
Although Podolski seems a happy-go-lucky bloke, his bubbly contentment seems more of a PR-driven facade. He has already stated on various occasions that he is not happy with the amount of playing time and is growing frustrated on the Arsenal bench. However, Arsenal may find it tricky to find a suitor for the German as his wages are around the £100k mark and his former club FC Köln have already ruled themselves out of the running. But with so much cash being splashed on Podolski's wages which is money they could use to pay a top defensive midfielder, Arsenal will be tirelessly touting him round Europe in the hope they find a buyer.
On the other hand, fans will be somewhat disappointed to hear that Joel Campbell may be being pushed out of the club. After having such a promising World Cup and showing he has plenty of potential, Gooners must be wondering why the 22-year-old hasn't been given more of a run out. Everton and West Brom are thought to be interested in the Costa Rican and would definitely give Campbell more of a chance to flourish.
