Are Inter Set To Beat Arsenal To Chelsea's Petr Cech?
Rumours have been rife that Arsenal were keen on Chelsea legend Petr Cech and that the West London club would be powerless to stop him moving across town out of respect. However, according to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter Milan are now in pole position after stepping up their interest as a result of their number 1 refusing to commit to a new deal.
Samir Handanovic, Inter's current 'keeper, is heading out of the exit door and Inter want the 32-year-old Petr Cech to replace him. It's thought that Cech will be offered a two-year deal with the option of a third. All that's needed now is the consent of Jose Mourinho, which will surely be an easy decision for the ex-Inter boss.
It may be worth Arsenal's while monitoring the situation of the 'keeper on his way out: Samir Handanovic. The Slovenian is a brilliant 'keeper and 2 years younger than Petr Cech. With whispers of Wojeich Szczesny being left behind by Arsenal and thus the possibility of him leaving, it may be wise to put a contingency plan into action. Handanovic is holding out for a €3m per-year deal, which in Arsenal's terms is peanuts.
