Celtic Tell Arsenal That Dutch Defender Will Be 'Very Expensive'
According to The Sun Celtic manager Ronny Deila has told Arsenal they'll have to cough up more than £10m if they want star defender Virgil van Dijk. The Hoops already told Wenger the player will "be very expensive" in an interview with TalkSport last month, adding "Van Dijk is a fantastic player who keeps on improving and I hope he stays with us."
With Arsenal short of numbers at the back and Nacho Monreal picking up injuries along the way, Arsene Wenger will no doubt try and bring someone in. However, as we know, Wenger is notorious for being stingy and only paying what he thinks is the right amount for a player. This may prove a serious stumbling block.
Having said this, the player himself may prove crucial to any deal. If Van Dijk is keen enough on a move to the Emirates, he may make it difficult for Celtic and help push a deal through.
