Champions League Winning Defender To Snub Chelsea And Arsenal In Favour Of Man Utd
The Express report that Manchester United are the preferred destination of Chelsea and Arsenal target Raphael Varane. The Real Madrid centre-back is unhappy at his lack of first team football and is looking to move on in an attempt to progress and improve as a player.
Although Chelsea could offer huge wages and Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is renowned for playing and thus improving young talent, Varane reckons Manchester United is where he'll play first team football most regularly. With Manchester United's defensive troubles and lack of top talent in that area, he may have a good point.
The 21-year-old Varane could end up costing upwards of £30M if Real Madrid decide to let him go. It's thought that Madrid are targeting Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao) as a potential replacement.
It's been reported that Manchester United prefer Mats Hummels as a more experienced option, but with Dortmund's unwillingness to sell, Louis van Gaal may turn to Varane instead.
