Cheer Up, Arsenal: Best Twitter Reactions To Cesc’s Move To Chelsea

Today, former Arsenal legend Cesc Fàbregas said goodbye to his boyhood club Barcelona, and returned to London in spectacular fashion, joining Chelsea for more money than Arsène Wenger was apparently willing to pay to have his old captain back.

Fàbregas was widely quoted as saying “I firmly believe Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies”.

Chelsea fans took to social media delighted, Tottenham fans took the chance with both hands to mock, Barça fans tweeted relief that they’d sold on a man they no longer valued, and Arsenal fans got the old band back together, taking the #WengerOut hashtag back to former glories, and wishing bloody murder on anything and everyone that they could type at.

Here is a small selection of the best tweets about the transfer announcement:

Congrats to Cesc on joining Mourinho. He was not good enough for Barcelona and he was jeered away of Nou Camp by his own fans, why then do some Arsenal fans pine for the Barca discard? Lack of ambition and self worth, i guess. I'm happy Mourinho is making all the early summer moves which means he has to win the league next season or get the sack. My prediction! Next year, this time the trophiless one will be considering coaching Portugal his native country

The name on the back is not as strong as the badge on the front. This is the way football is now and whilst frustrating for fans, in this case, Gooners, Cesc is not and will not be the last to pull this sort of thing.
