Chelsea: Why Letting Lukaku Leave For Juventus Is A Mistake
According to the Guardian - that great bastion of liberal anti-banter and transfer goss - claim that Chelsea are weighing up their strike options and are looking likely to let brilliant Belgian behemoth Romelu Lukaku leave for Turin.
It's no secret that Chelsea are short of attacking options as Torres, Ba and to a lesser extent Eto'o have all shown themselves incapable of carrying the team forward to their first title in f***ing ages, but resting their entire hopes on Brazilian-Spanish firebrand (still dunno what a 'firebrand' actually is) Diego Costa feels like an uncalculated risk, if that's what they're going for.
Before last season Costa was known more for his temper than his strike-rate, which until last season had been a little on the average side - only racking up double figures in the league twice before - and his ability to keep his cool in tough situations is still a subject that's defo up for debate.
While those wily Spanish defenders are notorious wind-up merchants (*shakes fist at Chico Floro-Flores*), you can only imagine what he'd be like in a league as physical as the Premier League. Like, seriously, Ryan Shawcross would Shawcrossbody him as soon as the ball was played in. Would Costa be able to handle that?
We already know that Lukaku can. The Belgian is an established Premier League star who scores plenty of goals and there's literally no risk involved. Mourinho is supposed to be the master pragmatist, so surely he knows this? Right?
