According to ESPNFC, Chelsea have made initial contact with Inter Milan regarding the transfer of Mauro Icardi. The Argentine has scored 16 goals in 29 games in Serie A and has been on Mourinho's shortlist for some time.
With Drogba leaving in the summer and Diego Costa's hamstrings becoming a worry, Chelsea are hunting for a long-term solution. At 22-years-old, Icardi is young, energetic and hungry - just what José will be looking for. Icardi's strength and prickly attitude on the pitch suits the Mourinho mould and his ruthless goalscoring make him even more appealing.
Chelsea are thought to be looking at others as well, but with contact reportedly already made, Icardi seems high up the list. Inter could demand up to £30million for the player, but with piles of cash and Financial Fair Play under control, money simply isn't an issue for Chelsea.
