When Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown was called back from preparing for the UEFA Youth League final to start on the bench for the first-team match against QPR this weekend, he could have been forgiven for thinking that he might make his full debut for the Blues.

Instead, despite a laboured display in which Chelsea took until the 88th minute to score the winner, Brown stayed on the bench. When questioned on whether he was considering bringing on defender Kurt Zouma in an unfamiliar striking role because Brown is ‘more of a winger’.

After the match Brown flew back out to Switzerland to start as captain for the Chelsea U19 side against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Youth League and shoved Mourinho’s words back down his throat, scoring two goals in a 3-2 win.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Brown’s match-winning performance.
