Norwich have been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace forward Dwight Gayle.
The Palace forward can play centrally or wide and has real pace. He scored ten goals in 30 games in all competitions last season, adding to the eight in 25 from Palace’s debut season in the Premier League.
Considering that many of those appearances came from off the bench, a near one in three strike ratio is impressive and suggests that there is more to come from Gayle in the Premier League. Still only 24, Gayle rose to prominence as a teenager with a 42 goal season for non-league Bishop’s Stortford. Successful spells at Dagenham & Redbridge and Peterborough followed, before Palace took the player into the big time with a then record £4.5m fee.
Gayle’s struggle to establish himself as a regular choice at Selhurst Park could see him surplus to requirements and he looks like the perfect blend of versatility, affordability and talent for Norwich. Here’s the little man in action.
