David Beckham has admitted he has been inundated with phone calls since he confirmed the site in Miami where his MLS franchise will be based. Former Man United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy man Beckham has been planning to form a team in MLS for several years, and it now seems they will begin their life in 2018.
Beckham is believed to be targeting England captain Wayne Rooney to be a marquee player for the Miami side, with his contract running down at that point and at 32 years old, Rooney could be tempted to make the switch to America.
Other high profile English players have moved recently, following in the footsteps of Beckham, as Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard ply their trade in America as football's reputation grows in the country.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber refused to comment on the situation, stating that Rooney is under contract at United, but admitted he does have a very good relationship with the Glazer family.
The story was originally reported in the Daily Star, although Rooney has been linked with a move to America after Manchester United for some time: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/464469/Exclusive-David-Beckham-Man-United-Wayne-Rooney-make-MLS-switch
