Southampton's Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has claimed that Arsène Wenger is very keen on bringing him to Arsenal.
Arsenal were looking at Wanyama when he left Celtic two years ago, but didn't follow through with any concrete bid.
"Wenger has been talking about me," he told the Sun (subscription required).
"He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.
"Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.
"But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe.
"Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer."
Wanyama is exactly the kind of physical presence that Arsenal have lacked in midfield. Francis Coquelin has done well, but it's uncertain if he'll be the long-term solution or remain as back up.
At £20million, Wanyama is available for a reasonable price and the way he's speaking would suggest he's more than open to the idea of moving to Arsenal.
