Ex-Chelsea Midfielder Who's Taking Europe By Storm Is A Target For Man City
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has caught the eye of Europe's elite and Man City seem very keen. According to the Evening Standard, Man City have formerly enquired as to the availability of De Bruyne, who joined current club Wolfsburg in january 2014 for £21.5million from Premier League leaders Chelsea.
De Bruyne is probably the most in-form player in Europe's top 5 leagues this season having scored 14 and assisted 23 in a mere 37 games in all competitions. This unbelievably good return has seen the Belgian attacking midfielder become Europe's hottest property and Man City will face competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.
Man City scouts watched the 23-year-old a few weeks ago in the Europa League and are believed to be doing the same tonight. With Wolfsburg valuation of De Bruyne at a hefty £45million, Man City will want to be absolutely certain they're getting their money's worth (they are), especially considering these 'financial restrictions' as a result of FFP that Manuel Pellegrini keeps banging on about. You've only spent the £170million in the past two seasons, Manuel.
There will no doubt be other suitors that come out of the woodwork closer to the summer transfer window, but for now Man City seem the most serious about a bid for who is currently Europe's crown jewell. Chelsea will be kicking themselves very hard indeed if De Bruyne does return to the Premier League any time soon.
