Is This Spanish Hotshot The Man To Spearhead Liverpool's Next Title Challenge?
According to reports in the Metro, which in turn are referencing reports in Spain, Liverpool look poised to try and sign Juventus' young Spanish hotshot, Alvaro Morata, in an attempt to kick on and once again challenge for the league title. Both Arsenal and Liverpool are mentioned in Fichajes as keen followers of the Spaniard's progress, after seeing him net a respectable 9 goals for the Bianconeri this season. Brendan Rodgers is a noted fan of Morata, and followed him closely during his time at Real Madrid, prior to his €20m move to Italy last summer.
Alas, any potential move for Morata is likely to be protracted and complicated. Morata is said to be perfectly happy in Turin, and would take some convincing to depart for England next summer. Furthermore, if Morata was to leave, it would almost undoubtedly be to replace Karim Benzema at Real Madrid, on account of the buy-back clause Madrid had inserted into Morata's Juve contract upon letting him go. That being said, Morata is a clear talent, and if Liverpool could convince him to sign, they would be a considerable contender for next season's Premier League title.
