Kevin De Bruyne Would Be Open To A Chelsea Return

Kevin de Bruyne has been tearing it up for Wolfsburg this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a staggering 24. The Belgian was sold by Chelsea last summer and is an exception to the Blues new-look shrewd transfer model.

With reported interest from a host of Europe's top clubs, KdB isn't expected to still be at Wolfsburg next season. ESPN FC report that the 23-year-old would be open to a Chelsea return having left on good terms.

Chelsea sold KdB for £18million, but now the player is valued at something closer to £40million. Chelsea, perhaps naively, didn't include any first-option clause when they sold the player, but they certainly have the financial power to buy him outright if they must. They'd be up against the likes of Man Utd and Man City in the Premier League, as well as Bayern Munich, Barcelona and PSG.

Where Chelsea have an advantage is that KdB knows the club and has international teammates (Eden Hazard and Thibault Courtois) at the club. Hazard recently stated that KdB was good enough for Chelsea and that letting him go was a mistake. Maybe Mourinho's told Eden to have a word over the international break…
