Does the signing of the talented Serb mean that ol' Iced Gem Head is on his way out?

Liverpool: Does Signing Markovic Mean Curtains For Coutinho?

According to reports, Liverpool are set to sign Benfica’s brilliant Serbian playmaker Lazar Markovic as Rodgers continues to snaffle up every creative player who comes into his line of sight.

With five goals in his 19 starts for Benfica and a couple for Serbia to boot, Markovic has won rave reviews for his running of games and flair and is exactly the sort of player Rodgers should be looking for - technically adroit and has magnificent hair.

What it also means, however, is that fan favourite Philippe Coutinho could be on his way out of Anfield after only one and a half seasons, or at least out of favour. While Coutinho is undoubtably very talented, it’s hard to believe that a player as sought after as Markovic will come to a side to play second fiddle.

A long-time target of Chelsea, questions were raised as to whether Markovic was the kind of player Jose Mourinho would be really after and now it looks like he doesn’t have to worry. While Chelsea have softened the robust approach of old, he doesn’t yet have enough meat on him to compete. Not enough meat to compete - now that’d be an ace epitaph, like.

What an absolute bunch of horse sh*t. How the hell is Coutinho going to suddenly be out of his way? What a complete farce of an article, I really hope newsnow.co.uk removes this site from its listings because the amount of complete tripe you spew out onto the internet is terrible.

I dont seem to understand why when we sign a player someone is rumoured to leave. All LFC Fans know that we have very little squad depth and to challenge on all fronts we need versatility. This is a very short sighted article

Just more bullshit thought up by a london based hack with nothing better to do

Someone is clearly bored. Can you write an article about Elvis working in Aldi? The overiding consensus from the press and pundits last season was that our squad was thin so now we look to strengthen, articles like this appear. Yawn.

The author uses cheat codes on FM to buy the 15 superstar players he needs to win all his matches 10-0, week in week out, so he doesn't understand why real life clubs would ever consider concepts such as "versatility", "options", "squad depth", "plan b" or even "rotation" during a long hard season.

Poor article. I've seen a fair bit of Markovic on TV and I'd say his game is similar to a Mcmanamen where as I'd compare Couthino to a Jari Litmunen. The former are wingers who drift inside, the latter are playmakers or "No 10's". Brendan seems to be setting his squad up to play with one striker in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 so he will probably need 5 or 6 attacking midfielders in his squad.
