Leeds v Derby County: When Clough And Revie Locked Horns On TV

Leeds face Derby in the Championship this weekend but once upon a time they were competing with each other for championships.

Back in the early 70s, Don Revie's Leeds and Brian Clough's Derby battled for titles, with their aforementioned managers enjoying a frosty relationship. It was perhaps no surprise then that when Revie left Leeds for England, the bullish Clough fancied his chances of doing his job even better.

Clough lasted just 44 days at Leeds. On the same day that he was sacked Yorkshire TV's Calendar News hosted a programme called 'Goodbye Mr.Clough' in which the the deposed manager and his predecessor Revie met head-to-head.

It didn't take long for the sparks to fly. Here's the full video of the famous encounter. With the greatest of respect to the teams that will meet this weekend, the match will have to go a long way to be as entertaining as this.
