Schalke have confirmed that their attacking midfielder Leroy Sane turned down a move to Liverpool this summer, but the Anfield club have not given up on the 19-year old who is also interesting Tottenham.
Sane has become a key figure at Schalke, particularly after the loss of Julian Draxler to Wolfsburg as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. The midfielder signed a two-year contract extension in the summer after turning down a £8.5 million move to Spurs in the summer, but they could move again in January.
He is in fine form, scoring three in his last three Bundesliga appearances, while his coach has said he has the talent to go all the way to the top, "His potential shows Leroy can have a great career ahead of him, he is on the right track," said Andre Breitenreiter.
SportsBild has also said that Premier League scouts are watching the midfielder, with the 19-year old in high demand, with both Liverpool and Spurs looking to capitalise on a player with great potential while he is still relatively cheap.
