Liverpool & Arsenal Lead Race For Spanish Hardman
According to reports in the Express, Malaga talisman Ignacio Camacho has made himself available for transfer, with long-term admirers Arsenal and Liverpool looking to be the front-runners for the Spaniard's signature. The 24-year old Spanish international - who has long resisted Arsenal's advances - has expressed a desire to depart on amicable terms, saying "If I do leave here then I want it to be done well and that Malaga are not angry with me".
However, Camacho followed with a de facto come-and-get-me plea, hinting quite strongly towards a transfer in saying "I have a contract here but if anyone wants to come in for me, then they will have to negotiate". It seems Camacho is trying to arrange the best possible deal that favours both his club and career. That being said, at a supposed asking price of £10m, Camacho would not appear to be prohibitively expensive to a side like Arsenal, who for many years have been crying out for a player of his class and strength.
Liverpool - who are similarly searching to add some strength into their midfield - are also known admirers of Camacho from his time at Atletico Madrid, and in the wake of Steven Gerrard's retirement, may look also to sign up the formidable Spaniard.
