Pre season: Good, bad or ugly?
Fine thanks, a series of wins without conceding a goal, no real tests involved to be honest but the squad are looking strong, the new signings are fitting in well, everything looks positive.
Hopes for the season:
Top four obviously but I'm going to stick my neck out; I want third
Fears for the season:
Another finish outside European qualification, coming below Everton for the third season in succession.
Absolute bare minimum you’ll accept:
Europa League and above the bluenoses.
Fixture you’re most looking forward to?
United away against a floundering David Moyes as his own fans start to turn on him.
Got the right manager?
I think so, I still don't feel any real connection to Brendan but I think he knows what he wants; the second half of last season showed that for me, further proof has been added with the Reina situation. Rodgers was put in a bad position by a player who thought a move was forthcoming that actually wasn't, he had to tell fairly blatant half truths to the media until he could sort out Reina's Napoli loan. Nobody ever really believed those 'competition for the keeper's position' stories did they?
By Christmas you’ll be…
Top four after a strong start to the season and looking to strengthen further in the January window in order to kick on.
Player you’d most like to sign?
I'd like a quality centre back and I'd be quite happy if the Costa deal comes off.
Which player should we look out for?
Coutinho obviously, he's going to be footballer of the year, but behind him there's a rejuvenated Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe is going to show his ability.
Which player would you love to ditch?
No real problems to be honest. Shelvey's gone, that'll do for me, I'm not even bothered about Downing still being there anymore.
Opposition hate figure?
For the fan base as a whole? Torres obviously although if Suarez moves to Arsenal Torres' visits to Anfield will look like a walk in the park.
Tell us something we don’t know about your club?
It's still inherently great, it's just having a bit of a rest
What won’t happen this season?
David Moyes won't break his career long tradition of not winning things.
Ste Gerrard, Gerrard, he'll pass the ball 40 yards, he's big and he's f***ing hard, Ste Gerrard Gerrard
Where will you finish?
3rd. I'm saying it now, feel free to remind me next May
Any other news?
You know that 4-2-3-1 formation that Brendan Rodgers always plays? It's not. Not even vaguely. You're not even going to know what's hit you most days.
