A statistic has been released showing which two footballers have played the most games alongside each other during the Premier League era.

Amidst some stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea pairings, it is Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher that have played the most games together.

Both products of Liverpool's youth system, Carragher and Gerrard played in 382 games together. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are second with 358, with Frank Lampard and John Terry third with 351.
