Man United: Could This Dutch Star Be Van Gaal's First Signing?
Louis Van Gaal hasn't even put his big orange paperweight on the Old Trafford desk yet - but according to the Guardian, he's already making moves to strengthen the Reds' ailing squad.
With a midfield that has been lacking in legs and overflowing with curly afro all season, United have lost battle after battle in the middle third, and the Dutch gaffer has already identified a few engine-stokers to get his new side back amongst the European elite next season.
And it's one of Van Gaal's fellow countrymen who sits atop the Netherlands boss' hitlist. Roma's enforcer, Kevin Strootman, is currently out injured, and as such, will not be on the Dutch plane to Brazil - but his national team boss knows his strengths well, and reckons that he could be a hit in the north west.
The ex-PSV midfielder only moved to Serie A last summer, after the two clubs agreed a whopping €17 million deal for his services - but United have dosh to blow, and Roma - who sit five points behind Juventus in the race for the title - could be tempted by a pocket-busting offer for the 24 year old.
