Man United Line Up Spurs Goalkeeper As Possible De Gea Replacement
Despite rumours suggesting De Gea is close to agreeing a new deal with Man United, the Spaniard is badly wanted by Madrid and a summer move, new deal or not, is firmly on the cards. The Mirror report that Man United will move for Spurs 'keeper Hugo Lloris if De Gea is seduced by Los Blancos.
Lloris has been a consistent top performer for Spurs since his arrival and is widely known as a 'sweeper keeper' — excelling at reading the game and anticipating where the ball is headed, before combating the danger and saving his defenders' blushes. The French international will almost certainly be tempted by the allure of Champions League football, which looks set to be returning to Old Trafford come the end of this campaign. No doubt the 28-year-old will also receive a healthy rise in pay if he does indeed end up at Man United.
Man United never intended current back-up goalie Victor Valdes to be number one and even if he sniffs an opportunity, it seems unlikely he'll get it. Instead, Lloris seems the perfect solution to a De Gea who will find it very hard to say no to the biggest club in football history and a return to his native Spain.
