Chelsea were all set to sign Barcelona star Pedro after reportedly agreeing to meet the player's £22m release clause, but according to the Daily Mirror, it's Man Utd who are planning to add the player to their list of big money buys this summer.
While Man Utd have been spending, their attacking options are looking distinctly threadbare at the moment, with only Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and James Wilson available after Falcao and RVP's departure.
This won't be good news to Arsenal and Liverpool fans either, with both clubs expressing an interest in the 27 year old forward.
Barca boss Luis Enrique said: "My wish is that Pedro stays, but there are circumstances in his contract and I will respect his opinion if he wants to leave."
Pedro has netted 58 times in a whopping 204 appearances for Barca since breaking into the first team, as well as 16 in 51 for his native Spain.
While Man Utd have made their intentions clear with their transfer spending so far, Wenger is yet to make clear strides, with Petr Cech and Arteta's new contract the main talking points so far. Compared with the likes of the free-spending Manchester clubs, it could be yet another frustrating summer for Gunners fans.
