Manchester United are ready to outbid Chelsea in an attempt to hijack their deal for Stoke City's goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to the Daily Mail.
It was rumoured that Chelsea had already all but agreed a deal for Begovic last week, but after a rejected bid in the region of £6m, it seems that they are still locked in negotiations.
With David De Gea's move to Real Madrid looking more and more likley as the summer progresses, Manchester United are desperate to sign a Premier League proven replacement. Stoke's Bosnian 'keeper is now a priority, with Spurs playing hardball over Hugo Lloris, especially considering they'd rather sell to Paris Saint-Germain, who are also thought to want the French number one.
United's financial firepower can easily match and even outgun Chelsea's and if they really want to, they could scupper their rivals in what is now an important area of recruitment for both clubs.
