According to reports in the Metro this week, Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has chosen Leeds United youngster Charlie Taylor as a January target.
The former England U19 international left back has been one of many ket Leeds players to break through from their youth ranks in recent years, and has cemented his place in the first team after loan spells at Bradford City, York City and Fleetwood Town.
Van Gaal has apparently scouted Taylor several times so far this season and is keen on moving for him now that Luke Shaw is likely to be out for several months.
Previous transfers between the two have been high profile, controversial and dramatic, including Eric Cantona and Alan Smith who both made the move to Old Trafford from Elland Road.
Van Gaal could be tempted to move for him in January, with a £4 million bid rumoured to be in the offing, though Leeds have repeatedly stated their intentions to keep hold of their young players.
