At a time when the county is busy examining it’s own faults, one of the most damning examples of it’s decline is the fact that foreign footballers very often Tweet more coherently in English than players who were born here.
That said, they’re not always above dropping a clanger. David De Gea used to do that regularly on the pitch but of late he’s arguably become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
So good has his form been this season that he’s been nominated as the PFA Player of the Year - a rare occurrence for a goalkeeper. De Gea was quick to thank his teammates, only to inadvertently insult them.
Well, at least we assume it's a mistake. If De Gea wins and decides to dedicate the award to Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, we'll know otherwise.
