Have Man United “Beaten” Barça To Sign Brilliant Mats Hummels?

According to Metro, Louis Van Gaal’s have beaten fellow fallen giants Barcelona to the signing of the very handsome World Cup winning centreback Mats Hummels - according to reports in Spain, anyway. A report of a report of a report. Best not hold your breath.

While Shaw and Herrera were necessary acquisitions, they may’ve lived to regret not making the signing of a world class centrehalf their top priority - they’ll be keeping everything cross this one actually comes to fruition.

Hummels is pretty much up there with the very best in his position - a perfect centrehalf blessed with height, power, a decent turn of pace and excellent quality on the ball- and it wouldn’t be too much to suggest that he’ll probably be looking for a way out of a crumbling Dortmund side.
