It’s always an unsettling time for a club’s management and fans when a star player decides to hire himself a new agent. It’s not generally a sign that the player is happy with how things are going in his career.
Such fears were evident when Everton striker Romelu Lukaku hired super agent Mino Raiola as his new representative and the Monaco-based businessman wasted no time in letting everyone know where things stood, as he unleashed this bombshell.
As if that wasn't plain enough proof that Raiola plans to move Lukaku on, he added this, just in case anyone was in any doubt: “We will see what happens in the summer, but the Everton directors don't have to think Rom will play there for the rest of his career.”
Raiola has negotiated five of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfers and clearly has an eye on Lukaku being his next cash-cow, adding: “Lukaku will play for one of world's best teams: PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United of Bayern Munich.”
So there you have it Everton fans, he’s off. But considering that Lukaku has only scored eight league goals this season, if you can get your money back or even sneak a profit, would you care?
