Olivier Giroud has always had his critics amongst the media and Arsenal fans alike but a stat has emerged which shows his true worth to the side.
The French international has notched ten goals in 18 games for the Gunners this season but there’s more to his game than merely scoring. Arsenal’s win percentage is radically boosted when Giroud is in the side.
Arsenal have averaged just 1.45 points per game without Giroud this season, compared to 2.07 when he’s in the side. The latter is a tally that would see Arsenal still realistically involved in the title race.
It seems that Giroud’s presence not only give Arsenal a fairly prolific forward up front but also brings out the best in those around him.
