In the dying moments of a Dutch second division game between De Graafschap and SC Veendam, the score was tied at 1-1 when the footballing gods decided to gift football fans with one of the worst open goal misses in history.

De Graafschap hit the post in the dying moments, gifting the ball to Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek (who turns out to be one hell of a player in Football Manager) three yards from the goal, with absolutely nothing between him and scoring and sealing the three points.

So of course somehow he managed to head the ball over the crossbar.

It would have been much harder to miss the giant target in front of him, but somehow Parzyszek managed to put it over the bar, denying the promotion-chasing side a valuable two points. Football; crazy, unpredictable and maddening. Why we love it really...
