The former Leeds and Everton striker was a hat-trick hero at Wembley yesterday, as he blasted his Preston side to promotion in the play-off final against Swindon.
Yet today the headlines that surround Beckford have nothing to do with his match-winning performance, but are instead focused on what happened when the 31-year old striker threw his shirt to a young child.
Beckford tosses his shirt to a group of waiting kids, with one lucky lad getting his hands on it. The youngster doesn’t manage to hold on to the shirt for long, as a woman waiting in the wings manages to take it from him with the assistance of a man. Watch the video of the incident below.
Later that evening an advert listing the shirt for sale for £1500 appeared on Gumtree.
The advert has since been removed, with the mystery woman now the subject of an internet witch-hunt. Let's hope that Preston do the decent thing and track down the kid and do something to make up for his disappointment.
