It’s no secret that Liverpool are currently the most in-form side in the Premier League but what may come as a surprise is how well they’re doing in comparison with Europe’s best clubs.
Liverpool are currently second in the form table of Europe’s top five leagues - England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain - with only Lyon performing better. Brendan Rodgers’ side have won five and drawn one of their last six games, which is an identical record to Lyon, with the only difference between the sides being the French club’s superior goal difference.
The haul of 16 points puts Liverpool ahead of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Napoli, who have all taken 15 points over the same timescale. Liverpool fans will be pleased to see that their much-maligned defence has improved of late, conceding just three goals in six games - a record only bettered or equalled by three of Europe’s 15 most in-form clubs.
