Red Bull's Head Of Global Soccer Denies Leeds United Takeover
The Mirror reported yesterday that Red Bull were in 'advanced talks' for a £60million takeover of Leeds United. However, it has come to light today in the Yorkshire Evening Post that this is not the case. Red Bull's head of global soccer marketing Oliver Mintzlaff has denied any plans for another soccer club project.
"Another involvement in football is not planned." Mintzlaff stated.
Red Bull already own clubs in the USA, Germany and Austria and it was thought Leeds United may be joining the Red Bull family. But Leeds fans will have to wait a little longer to be saved from their current owner.
Leeds' controversial and unpredictable owner Massimo Cellino had said he was told Red Bull had made an offer. It now seems that Cellino may have (unsurprisingly) been drumming up interest and trying to spark a bidding war with a few potential buyers circling.
