Southampton Look To Steal Algerian Wonderkid Target From Under Man Utd's Nose
Manchester United and Southampton target Saphir Taider has admitted he is growing frustrated due to a lack of playing time at Inter Milan.
The midfielder, who was linked with United back in the summer before he made his big move to Inter, told local media that he is going through a “strange time” in Serie A and with Walter Mazzarri struggling to fit the former Bologna man into his plans the door could now be open for a move to the Premier League.
Although he may have struggled to impress for Inter so far this season Taider is still only 22 and could have the potential to fill a gaping hole in David Moyes’s midfield.
United were knocked back in their attempts to sign players like Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara in the summer and had to settle with a late move for Marouane Fellaini instead. But with a place in next season’s Champions League looking less and less likely the Red Devils will probably have to set their sights a little lower and shop around for players like Taider who might be willing to move to Old Trafford despite a lack of European football.
And besides, he can’t be any worse than Tom Cleverley.
Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is also thought to have been a fan of the young Algerian international since his time at Bologna. The Saints’ attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez, also formerly of Bologna, has been struggling for game-time and form this season so could it be the south-coast side instead who swoop in to steal Taider from under the nose of the Premier League champions?
