Southampton are in advanced talks with Feyenoord over the signing of young midfielder Jordy Clasie which would almost definitely see Morgan Schneiderlin leave the club, probably for Man United, according the Express.
Various Dutch media outlets are reporting that Southampton are closing in on 24-year-old midfielder Jordy Clasie. Ronald Koeman's pursuit of his fellow countryman is widely regarded to be a move to replace Schneiderlin, who has been linked to United relentlessly of late.
United were thought to have had a deal in place a week or so ago, but it turned out that Southampton had rejected their bid and there'd been no contact since. However, as the land lays now, it seems as if Schneiderlin is indeed on his way out and United, despite their capture of Bayern Munich legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, are the buyers.
Louis van Gaal has clearly prioritised the midfield as an area that needs significant improvement. With the potential of a Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger double pivot, they could have one of the most solid central midfields in the Premier League going into the new season.
