Spurs Bow Out Of Race For Southampton Star, Clearing Way For Rivals Arsenal
The Daily Express report that as a result of facing stiff competition from North London Rivals Arsenal, Spurs have turned their attention from Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton's James McCarthy. The Everton man won't be any cheaper though, in fact with a price tag of £25million, it will be a tall order for the Spurs negotiators.
Arsenal will be relieved they have seemingly been left as clear front runners for Schneiderlin, who has been a key figure for a high-flying Southampton this season. Having chased him last summer to no avail, it may be worth Dick Law, Arsenal's chief negotiator, trying to get something pencilled in for next.
Schneiderlin is exactly what the doctor ordered for Arsenal and many fans view the defensive midfield position as one of the last pieces in the puzzle.
