Spurs Target Benfica's £20Million Argentinian Attacker
According to The Mirror, Spurs are very interested in Benfica's 24-year-old winger Eduardo Salvio. The North London side reportedly had scouts at Benfica's 3-0 win over Vitoria Setubal on Sunday and has previously been scouted by Man United and Liverpool.
The Argentinian, who used to play for Atletico Madrid, is hot property this season and his stats show why. Salvio has played 28 games in all competitions, scored 11 and assisted 7. With that kind of direct influence and contribution, he'd seemingly be a valuable asset to Tottenham who have lacked pace and penetration from wingers recently.
However, teams in the Portuguese League, no matter how prestigious in terms of producing talent, have a reputation for selling over-hyped players for excessive amounts. Having said that, Salvio looks a useful player and Mauricio Pochettino's Argentinian connection may prove vital in securing a deal for the highly sought-after winger who will no doubt be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
