After a somewhat disappointing series of performances in recent weeks, Manchester United fans could be forgiven for thinking that the side was going backwards under new manager Louis van Gaal.

The truth is that United are actually going forward. These league tables show that while the side might have struggled during the early weeks of Van Gaal’s reign, they’ve recovered extremely well.

Without the first five results of the season, United would be third, just two points behind rivals Manchester City and four points off Chelsea.

Take away the first ten games and things look even rosier for Van Gaal’s men. United would be top with 31 points and only one loss, a point ahead of Chelsea.
