Sterling Stall Scares Liverpool As Real Madrid And Bayern Munich Circle
Liverpool have been made to wait by Raheem Sterling regarding the youngster's contract extension. The talks have been ongoing for months, but the Mirror report that Sterling wants to shelve discussions until summer so he can focus on finishing the season strongly with Liverpool.
Sterling is believed to be earning £35,000 per-week, but wants to bump that up to and over the £100,000 mark. Although it makes business sense to invest in Sterling, Liverpool may feel like they're being take for granted by the 20-year-old, who could just as easily be postponing in the hope of an easier move away in the summer.
Liverpool are worried. But not because this means Sterling will leave (he could anyway), but because without a renewal they won't be able to demand as high a transfer fee as they'd have hoped and they won't have the power in any negotiations like they did with Suarez. The two main interested parties are European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who both have more than enough resources to bring Sterling to their respective cities.
A failure to finish in the Champions League would almost certainly seal Sterling's fate and prompt him to move away from Liverpool. However, with the great form Brendan Rodgers' side are in, they must be viewed as one of the front runners for the top four. Whatever happens, the current signs aren't good.
