A row has been raging in Scotland after Celtic assistant manager John Collins started a debate regarding who was to blame for Scottish clubs’ lowly coefficient ranking in Europe.
Collins complained that Celtic only had to play three Champions League qualifiers because of the poor performance of other Scottish clubs in European competition.
St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright hit back, claiming that Celtic and Rangers were just as much to blame as any other Scottish club. Unfortunately Wright’s point was rather undercut when his St Johnstone side were knocked out of the Europa League at the first hurdle by Armenia’s Alashkert (who played with ten men for much of the second-half of the second leg).
As you’d expect, Celtic fans were quick to gloat. Here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
